Sentinel: The Fifth Covenant Novel

Sorry Jen, this book didn't cut it for me. I am never going to be content with that ending, how can I when my favourite character gets to die only to wake up as Hades pet, lord knows how he's going to be treated and what he's going to have to succumb to. It's not right he feels constantly guilty because I don't think he's guilty at all.

His past was horrid and he was manipulated and forced into something he believed was the right thing and that Alex was never going to get hurt. And eventually he chose right and even though hard he did the right thing, without his help all would be lost. He was the hero in the end. He shouldn't have been able to take Aiden's place, and it's not right that Alex is ok with Seth's choice. He shouldn't feel so guilty that he felt he owed her his life in order to seek some forgiveness and make up for what happened.

Everyone's gets a happy ending except him. How is that ever going to be fair? Without him no one would have a happy ending and in exchange for saving everyone he gets forever as a slave. I hate this book. I hate what has become of one of my favourite series. And more time needed to be spent on that battle. That's what it was all about! And after 5 books it was a tiny battle. The only good part of this book was in fact the twist with the mighty Titan. Oh yeah I am most certainly pissed. Disappointed Jen, disappointed.

Ah, I knew that voice. My heart and my soul knew that voice. There was a time not all that long ago when I was grappling around trying to find something awesome to read…and I was out of inspiration. In the darkness, Aiden placed his hand over where mine rested on my stomach, and it stayed that way through the night.

A world corrupted by laws that put pure-bloods on a pedestal and halfs in servitude for the smallest mistakes, we are swept into this crazy place where a young girl will strive to rise above these outdated laws and restrictions to fight for the love of her life. As a pure-blood, he was untouchable to me even though I was the Apollyon, and even now he risked everything to be with me.

He was my strength when I needed him to be, my friend when I needed someone to talk me down, my equal in a world where by law I would always be less than him, and honest to gods, he was the love of my life. We have Alex, the half-blood who fell for a pure-blood and knew it could never happen.

A girl who was so strong willed she: -Made it on her own with no protection from the covenant -After falling dangerously behind with her training and studies, she came back and rose above the odds-earning a spot at the covenant again. But how can there be two….? I could read everything in his eyes. Pushing her away when she needed him most, they both suffer from unnecessary heartbreak that pulls you even deeper into this amazing series and makes you beg for more. He would lay down his life to save her, risk it all with a secret compulsion, battle alongside her only to make sure she lives to see another day-even though he is the one who is really in danger of dying.

I was selfish the first time I kissed you, touched you.

A dimple appeared. More than once I found myself wishing he would just disappear into oblivion and never come back. He was always a distraction for Alex, someone to challenge her feelings for Aiden, and I never really liked that-but it securely added another intricate layer to these stories that was so desperately needed. Looking back I realize just how much more fun his presence made everything, and I love that he was a part of the journey to where they all are now.

Car keys dangling from his fingertips, Seth passed by us. A race to the finish where no one is safe, even the Apollyons, we watch the story unfold as each character seals their fate, for both good and bad. It was a beautiful day for war. There is really no way to express how much I loved this series in one review, because we saw each character grow, mature, and become what they were always destined to be.

Toppsta - Childrens Books – Reviews

I laughed, I cried, I bawled , and I frantically wished for the best in the worst of scenarios. I was both surprised and overjoyed with the finale of the Covenant series, and I could even read it again right now. It was just that good. Forever engrained into my soul, I will never forget the joy I felt when I read each installment. And he would wait forever for me, just as I would wait forever and a day for him.

May 04, Laz rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: paranormal lovers. Shelves: young-adult , tear-jerkers , fantasy , paranormal , romance , girl-power. This book is a major heartbreak and the ending is a never-ending plot twist. So much action. So many things happening in this book. This was mind-blowing. The best conclusion to this series that we could ever get. All I wanted was for Alex and Aiden to be together because this kind of love deserves to keep on thriving on and on until the end of time. I'm grateful to Seth as much as I do not like him, I know he loves Alex and he, technically, does something awe-inspiring fo This book is a major heartbreak and the ending is a never-ending plot twist.

I'm grateful to Seth as much as I do not like him, I know he loves Alex and he, technically, does something awe-inspiring for Alex and well, that made me love him. I am not the type who loves the get-married-have-babies happy ending thing. Hell, I sometimes prefer tragedy. But this book made me cry at first because, yes, I admit that for this book series I wanted a happy ending due to the fact that Alex and Aiden's love makes me feel too much, but then I was so super-extra-duper happy and extremely confused and perhaps a little bit of awed because it was such an amazing plot to bring the two leading characters together and creating the perfect happy ending but also achieving an out of the ordinary happy ending.

I have told this before but these two are the epitome of "two people in love will eventually be together no matter what". A round of applause for Jennifer L. Armentrout because let's not kid ourselves she is awesome and she knows how to compose an incredible world and create characters that you fall in love with. Feb 27, Hilly rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites , greek-mythology. Reread update I already knew how everything was going to end but damn I still did cry a river.

Now my face is all sticky. I need to go hide in a corner and awful cry. Damn you book! You know the feeling when you want to throw the book into a wall and then step on it, insult it while crying like a baby and at the same time you want to hug, squeeze it to death because it was just so damn perfect? That's what I'm feeling now. My mind has gone to Crazy Town Reread update I already knew how everything was going to end but damn I still did cry a river. My mind has gone to Crazy Town and won't be back very soon. I loved everything of this book, but the ending was so bittersweet and I think I need some time to process and accept it.

It doesn't help that the series has ended. And what a war. This last book is all about preparation for war. It's fast-paced and also covers a so little time. Not gonna lie, I wanted more, but I also think that this was the perfect ending for a magnificent series. It's one of my favorites. It gave me all the possible imaginable feels on Earth, and I'll never stop thanking JLA for creating it. They conquered a really big part of my heart, and this is something that almost never happens to me.

Give me an Aiden who loves me unconditionally. As we walked toward the dean's office, he reached over, trailing his fingers along my arm. The marks had followed the path of his touch. I shook my head. And honestly, every man in this series is perfect but has flaws and is real. I have no words. I already loved him so much, but now my love for him has reached the next level. Marry me? Also his breakdown when he discovered that Alex had to die… he loves her so much.

I wanted to bear hug him. The things I love the most about this series apart from the boys…? The fact that Alex is so badass. Girl power, yasss! I just love Alex. My eyes narrowed on him as I raised my free hand and scratched the bridge of my nose… with my middle finger. The fact that everything is funny, even in the worst moments. At the beginning of the book Alex was depressed not her fault but either way I laughed. Not to mention the other characters. Apollo, WTH? He always interrupts such great moments between Alex and Aiden, and he does it on purpose throughout the entire series even when he wasn't a god ; but in this book he reaches the limit.

Really Apollo, reallyyy? Besides, have Deacon and Apollo actually ….????? You're one to talk! If I was to Google 'irresponsible sexual activity', it would be your picture staring back at me! The fact that everybody goes through major character growth. It's all so well developed that you don't notice it until you read some quotes or think about the previous books.

Then it strikes you. The fact that mythology is used in such an awesome way. This is a sad goodbye, but hey. Wait for me until my first reread. View all 4 comments. I was a bit disappointed on couple of things on this last book like the way it ended I fell in 4.

I fell in love with most of the characters and kind of feel sad to let them go. I will most definatly be reading more of this author's work in the future. View all 9 comments. This series, I have no words, JLA left me utterly amazed again! I have so many feelings right now. I'm soooo, so extremely happy because of that perfect ending but sad at the same time because it's over. I literally loved everything about the Covenant series.

I was captivated by every chapter and thanks to Jennifer's writing style and creative mind I was completely absorbed in the story. I don't know how she does it, everytime I read a paranormal book written by her I found myself loving every little thing about it. The world building of this story was incredible, I used to read greek mythology when I was young so it brought back old memories. Another thing I really enjoy about JLA writting is that she always makes me fall in love with every character You know that feeling when you start a book and you instantly know that you will love and connect easily with the main character?

The best way to describe her is as a kickass and badass heroine. I asbolutely loved her character, she was so strong, independent and with the best sense of humor, I literally found myself laughing most of the time. I'm so happy that she finally got her happy ending, she truly deserved it. I wouldn't give up being a Sentinel for the world. Or being the Apollyon.

I rock. You're so humble. He was a sweetheart and my god, I loved his "Alex, lets make babies" side! Am I the only one? There should have been some lover boysssss drama! Heh, needless to say that he was also one of my faves. I don't know why I haven't read this before but I'm glad I did it because it was a wonderfull journey, full of laughs, kickass moments, passion, love, drama, family and friendship. These books really had it all! Now it's time to move on to Seth's book, I'm so freaking excited I can't wait!!!

Mar 06, Summer rated it did not like it. After the shit-fest that was Apollyon, why did I continue with this series? Those are strictly rhetorical questions directed at myself. Why is this book so heavily reliant on roma 1. Why is this book so heavily reliant on romance? I really shouldn't be surprised, considering how her other novels that I've read of late were. Alex was even worse. The action scenes were okayish, and relatively few and far between. I actually appreciated the last fighting scene, saving me from completely hating this book.

Seth was the only character I liked. Who was forced to suffer? The character who is supposed to be the most selfish, is now the most selfless. Tut tut. I sense an author playing favorites here. Hold up, let me go watch the latest episode of 16 and Pregnant so I could be even more motivated to become a teen mom.

Alex and Aiden making out 2. Sexxx 4. More kissing at inappropriate times 6. More lusting 7.

The time has come to say goodbye to Alex, Aiden, Seth, Marcus and everyone else. Well, no. And make no mistake, my feelings for the charact Five books filled with mythology and action; countless painful, almost heartbreaking moments; hundreds and hundreds of pages of deliciously hot romance… and now, we have finally reached the conclusion.

And make no mistake, my feelings for the characters are exactly what kept me reading through all the rough patches, plagiarism, occasional inconsistencies and the intolerable love triangle in those first few books. Fan service is always at the very top of her list, and there was never any chance of her repeating the Veronica Roth fiasco. In Sentinel, all of her qualities are even more enhanced. There are a lot of great moments fans will appreciate greatly, a lot of quality time spent with the characters, some truly magnificent action scenes though not as many as one would expect , and of course, the romance is as swoon-worthy as ever, if not more.

Once you remove the emotional factor, however, and look at Sentinel objectively, all the flaws become painfully obvious. For a final installment, Sentinel was pretty uneventful around the middle. I resent sloppiness — call it a personal flaw, if you will — and sloppiness towards language is the absolute worst in my eyes. That is the kind of thing that can ruin a book in a heartbeat, an author not caring enough or not having enough skill to ensure appropriate language for his or her characters. Looking back, there are so many things I could say about this series, and I did, in fact, express them all in my reviews.

It is a fact that cannot, and should not, be ignored. View all 13 comments. Sep 14, Tina rated it it was amazing. I'm a huge JLA fan and a huge fan of this series so is it really a surprise I consider this book 5 stars worthy? I'll keep it short since I personally find it difficult to write long reviews for a book that's later in the series, so let me put it simply: If you're been a huge fan since book 1: you'll LOVE this final book if not at least like it. If you're been on the fence or haven't been a huge fan: this book probably won't do m 5 Stars!

If you're been on the fence or haven't been a huge fan: this book probably won't do much for you. Sentinel is just as if not more hilarious than the previous 4 books, has a tiny fraction less romance considering Ares is still causing mayhem, it's understandable though it does get pretty romantic once the love moments pop up, and there's a fair amount of action.

The only minor complaint I have is that the big battle wasn't as long as I thought it'd be. Don't get me wrong, it was great definitely a lot of action but I was just expecting the scene to last a tiny bit longer than it did. Thank you Ms. Armentrout for being such a wonderful and dedicated writer! I absolutely can't wait to see whatever work you come out with next! View all 3 comments. This last book of the series was amazing! Way better than the previous ones. I had a feeling the book was going to end in a tragic way. It happens all the damn time. I could not believe what he did in the end. He sacrificed his freedom for the love of his life. And this is the greatest gesture a man could do.

There are so many things in common Not that I mind this, because I enjoyed both of them, but it makes me wonder if the author had some inspiration from the VA series. This is definitely one of my favorite series and I want to kiss myself for taking the decision to read it and to not have breaks them, because they are a fully and amazing adventure.

You must read them continuously, because the plot is very complex and if you change the book, you might forget some very interesting aspects. My point is that I adored Finally the series is complet and I am blown away! My point is that I adored this series and the impact it had upon me was huge. Not wanting to have a reading slump, I will dive right into another book, but I will think about "The Covenant" for a long time. So, Alex is the freaking Apollyon with a freaking mission. She has to transfer Seth's power into her, become the God Killer, kill the evil God and after that, face the consequences.

The book was extremely dynamic, with a lot of heavy moments, but also emotional and steamy ones. And not to spoil something, but Seth will be actively involved in this book, for those who love him and wished a different outcome for him. She was unique, her style, her courage and her spirit were amazing, a true example for all of us. I don't want to enter in many details about Aiden, because he easily made the Top Book Boyfriends of all time and maybe the revelation of this year. Even the scenes between them that were not extremely explicit, left you gasping and blushing, because they were so good and full of energy.

I could spend hours talking about them and the series, but seriously, read it and you will love it as much as I did. The final chapter was different and from my POV very original and not as I have imagined it. I know it will leave you in a position, not knowing which side to choose I chose both of them, because after the various adventures, twists and problems this characters had to face, you couldn't believe the ending will bring total closure right? You know the dots from "The End Believe me, it is very hard to cope with the idea that this series has ended..

My Alex and Aiden: I was sad, yet excited to start this final instalment. Once again, Jennifer L. Aremntrout managed to write exciting and thrilling story, full of Greek myths coming alive in our contemporary world.

I am not sure if I have ever read about more devoted, loyal and loving male character before. He is just perfect! I cannot really talk about this book without giving spoilers. So all I am going to say is that even though I enjoyed this book and was ok with ending, I did not love it.

So why not higher rating? Firstly, I felt like climax was in Apollyon and this was just aftermath. Story was a little bit repetitive, nothing completely new or shocking has happened in this book. Also, I know that this was Alex's and Aiden's story, but after so much time I had spent with this series, there was no proper goodbye with supporting characters. Everything ended so abruptly. I highly recommend this series to all YA paranormal readers!

Sentinel: The Fifth Covenant Novel - AbeBooks - Jennifer L. Armentrout:

What I will say is that the Covenant series is by far one of the best series I have ever read. The primary and secondary characters are well developed and there are many layers to the plot. These books are full of action, suspense, passion, drama, and everything in between. I am truly saddened to be finished with this series.

I know that I will be rereading them again soon. View all 6 comments. This is the perfect ending to this perfect series. I love the plot, and I love how everything is tied up at the end. There is a lot of action in this book and I enjoyed every second of it. Jennifer L. Armentrout is a genius. I enjoy everything she writes. I love all the characters: Not just the protagonists, but also the different Gods, especially Apollo. I ship them so much. Now, Aiden and Alex. They're just so amazing together and I lovelovelove how they can overcome everything. I enjoy so much of stories with "forbidden love".

How they start to train together, and feel attracted to each other, but don't do anything about it because the relationship between pures and half-bloods is not allowed. Scenes like the one in the zoo, or the one when they were in Aiden's house and he plays the guitar for her, or when they have to go to the underworld together.

To read about how their love grows up and make both of them stronger was so fucking emotional. They are one of my favorite couples of all times. And last but not least, Seth. I have to be honest: I loved Seth in the first two books. Then I started to hate him in book three, and by the fourth book I just couldn't stand him. All I wanted to do was to punch him. The sacrifice he made for Alex and Aiden melted my heart. And I can't wait to read the Titan series to fangirl over him once again.

This has been one of the most amazing journeys I've engaged in my life. This 5 covenant books have rocked my world. Once again JLA leaves me with my mouth hanging wide open! For the last week this book did numerous things to me: 1. Happy I love how quick Alex was to answer. I loved her stubbornness, I loved how hardheaded she was and how she didn't take shit from anyone.

How all of her actions came from the heart and not from her head. It This has been one of the most amazing journeys I've engaged in my life. It kept me intrigued The way the story itself developed was amazing. Alex and Aiden, and all of her friends were all strong characters. I mean sure, they all had their flaws, but even Lea was incredibly brave.

Marcus and Seth were just amazing characters. And even though we lost Seth for a couple of books there, he still managed to keep a part of our hearts. Angry I think this gif is really appropriate for how I felt most of the time reading this book. Specially with the gods. There's a statement that Alex makes in this book, where she tell Apollo that the battle that they were fighting, wasn't their battle but the gods, and yet they've all dumped their issues into the human world. Well I was pretty pissed with everyone.

I am not sure I like the ending of this book very much--don't get me wrong--I am happy for them, but it was weird ending considering all the other alternatives that this book could've ended, but oh well. I was angry, as well, with Alex believe or not, sometimes she could get under my skin, and Seth, well he is another story. Everything was so devastating, and in the end of this book, I just couldn't take anymore. I broke down and cried for all of those characters who didn't made it through, I even cried for those who I thought didn't make it, but that if I kept reading I might have save some tears.

But still, it was heart crushing. But I'm really happy that I've ended this incredible and amazing journey with Alex and Aiden, and all of their friends, and even enemies. This is a series that would always be a part of my heart. Oct 13, Annette Dellosa rated it it was amazing. Can we have another book? Very last one? I am so not ready for this to end. I feel like there's more to tell especially after that ending. Don't get me wrong, but I'm very satisfied with it. I just want more Alex and Aiden. I don't care who the villain would be, I want more!!! Maybe a novella?

Look at that cover. It speaks about that famous line "Calm after the storm.
